Great Hall Two fills venue void

Cardiff University’s Great Hall gets a reconfiguration to attract bands

Cardiff’s music scene has seen difficulties in recent years, with the Millennium Music Hall, The Point and Barfly all experiencing closures.

Hoping to fill the venue gap is Great Hall Two, a 500-person capacity reconfiguration of Cardiff University’s 1,500 capacity Great Hall.

After a successful October test run hosting New Model Army, Hall Two is now an established venue, with upcoming acts including Every Time I Die and Chimaira.

The idea was masterminded through a collaboration between Orchard Media Group indie promoter of the year nominee Greg Barton and Cardiff University’s Students’ Union.

“The lack of venues made us look at different options and spaces,” Greg explains. “The feedback we’ve had so far has been really good and the venue’s profile is rising and rising.”
