Women’s Institute gets more active

Ladies of the WI have succeeded in becoming more active due to the Sports Development Grant it was awarded in 2013.

The £9,400 investment has successfully helped to develop the WI Sporting Ambassadors pilot project according to the Glamorgan branch.

Members now participate in bowls and table tennis games; they swim, practice pilates and even tackle the Go Ape assault course.

Two years have passed since the initiative was launched, yet it continues to encourage women of all ages to regularly engage with physical activity.

A spokesperson from the local WI office claimed that the project has motivated them, admitting, “We are doing a lot more things.”

Some ladies have also completed this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon – with more hoping to participate in next year’s event.
