Castle lecture recognises true nobility

On 21 November, Cardiff Castle will hold a talk examining the city’s nobility of the past.

The lecture, given by castle curator Matthew Williams, is entitled ‘Cardiff recognises true nobility,’ and will focus on the Third Marquess of Bute.

The lecture was first held last year at the Mansion House in a bid to raise public awareness of the building. It was well received and Matthew Williams said, “The lecture was popular therefore it seemed sensible to repeat it.”

The aim will be to examine the Marquess’ mayoral year after he was invited by the capital to adopt the position in 1890.

The talk, starting at 6pm, is part of a lecture series held by guest speakers at the castle on a variety of topics.
