Terre Thaemlitz, AKA DJ Sprinkles

House music Pioneer Terre Thaemlitz, aka DJ Sprinkles, is to play Cardiff later this month at TEAK, a basement club beneath Jacobs Antique Centre. The producer’s last appearance in the UK saw her sell out London’s Dance Tunnel in three minutes, following the re-release of her peerless Midtown 120 Blues lp.

“Terre’s approach is really refreshing”, said TEAK promoter James Smith, referencing Thaemlitz’s critical approach to the genre and its sexual politics. He described the booking as “a no brainer”.

This is the second party this month fro the distinctly DIY-flavoured TEAK, whose bare brick walls and minimal interior give the space what Smith describes as “an honest feel. [It] doesn’t look like the inside of P-Diddy’s shoe-room, unlike some clubs”.
