Local choir celebrate 115 years of singing

Choir members are brought together by a love of singing

Led by conductor Emma White, members are brought together by a love of singing

Cardiff Male Choir are to hold a gala concert commending their 115 year anniversary.

Due to mainstream shows like Britain’s Got Talent giving a platform for choirs to showcase their abilities, the attraction of community choirs has risen over the past few years.

The idea that choir singing is out of date is disappearing. In fact the longevity of Welsh choirs can be seen in the number of choirs celebrating landmark anniversaries, and Cardiff Male Choir are keen to see a rise in interest.

The Cardiff Male Choir concert gala will be held at Whitchurch Rugby Sports and Social Club on 29 November.

“The choir will be performing a variety of songs,” says events manager Brenda Manning, “including Welsh traditional hymns, choruses, songs from the shows and a few seasonal treats.”
