Punjabi get-together grows in popularity

The Punjabi Mehfil, a tri-monthly event celebrating Punjabi culture, has recently experienced a steep rise in popularity. The group’s organiser Mr Channi Kaler said, “Everybody contributes something to the event, somebody sings, somebody tells a joke, it is a way people can come and carry out their own skill.” Attendances were low in the first two years but it was when Mr Kaler first started encouraging those from the Pakistani as well as the Indian Punjabi community to get involved that the group began to grow so rapidly.
