Vox Pop: Do you listen to local or national radio?

The number of radio sets that have been sold in the UK has fallen by 18% in the past 12 months; a study from Ofcom has shown.

In response to these figures James Snaith, who worked for The Wave, expressed the importance of supporting local radio, “News is a huge localizing aspect for any station, listeners often want to know what is going on in their area and it is something a national station can’t compete with on a local level”.

But despite these concerns the news is still positive for radio listeners in Wales. Nation radio had their listeners increase by 20% in the past year. Plus, Radio Cardiff have also benefited after a generous grant was awarded to them by the Welsh government.
