Rush, caffeine and the bin: vox pop

Your daily dose of takeaway drinks costs a lot- to the environment

Disposable coffee cups do manage to keep your drink warm without getting soggy, but they leave the consumer confused about their recycling.

A recent study conducted by Which?, a consumer group, found that coffee cups disposed in general waste bins amount to around  2.5 billion tonnes of waste in the United Kingdom alone. Leading coffee chains such as Costa Coffee and Starbucks generate the largest amount of cups in the bins, with Greggs and Café Nero not far behind.

Most major brands have the recycling logo on their takeaway cups. It is then supposed to be the responsibility of the customer to dispose off the cup in recycling bins.
