The Cards for Good Causes shop in St John the Baptist’s Church is selling charity Christmas cards this winter
Four weeks before Christmas, Cards for Good Causes is very busy. People come here every day to purchase their greeting cards and support local and national charities.
For more than 50 years, The 1959 Group of Charities has been providing dozens of shops in the UK with cheerful cards and other Christmas essentials. Several smaller local charities are present and selling Christmas cards gives them a serious helping hand.
“Of each pound spent, 75p goes to the charity,” explains Hilary Jardine, one of the shop’s managers. “So for them, this period is really important”, she adds.
The knowledge that buying a card allows you to put a smile on a child’s face or to help out an ill person illuminates the holidays more than a thousand Christmas lights.
