The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl

If Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The BFG, and other Roald Dahl’s books were part of your childhood, then this is the exhibition for you.

As part of the Roald Dahl 100 celebration, Wales Millennium Center is holding an exhibition of all things Roald Dahl.

The Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl is an interactive exhibition that lets visitors embark an interactive journey through the magical world of Roald Dahl. An activity that’s definitely worth to add to your Christmas holiday to-do-list.
With the price of 8 Pounds, visitors can experience the one-hour guided exhibition and relive the stories from the Cardiff-born author.

“If the visitors know anything about Roald Dahl, then they’ll know to expect the unexpected.” Says Ellen Groves, spokesperson of the Wales Millennium Center.
True enough, the exhibition is nothing like you would have expected to see in a normal exhibition.

Every room tells a story and every corner hides a surprise. Starting from Roald Dahl’s childhood classroom, visitors are then catapulted into the desert where the writer experienced a plane accident.
From an eerie forest with a magic giant peach, visitors will suddenly emerge into a room that defies gravity as everything is upside down and glued to the ceiling.
Towards the end of the tour visitors are brought deeper into Dahl’s imagination by entering Matilda’s library, Willy Wonka’s inventing room and last but not least, the great glass elevator–all interactive in their own unique ways.
Of course, the experience wouldn’t have been the same without the host guiding the exhibition and explaining pages of Roald Dahl’s scribblers found throughout the exhibition.
“It’s nice to see visitors really immerse in the experience,” says Ruth, the exhibition host. “Most of the hosts are actors so they’re very professional and entertaining when guiding the tour.” She adds.
Though Roald Dahl is a children’s book, the exhibition is open to all visitors from age 7-107 with a child at heart who wishes to unwind and revisit their childhood.
“The hosts can spot the grown ups that loved Dahl when they were little because as soon as they enter the exhibition they just light up and become a child again.” Says Ellen Groves. “It’s to escape the logistics of adult life and just be really silly and revisit that wonder that Roald Dahl gave so many of us.”
