Life model poses for artists at 10 Feet Tall, Cardiff

Cardiff Life Model Collective mixes nudes with politics in a bid to increase the wage rates for its models.

The group, which holds weekly life drawing classes in Cardiff, wants £15 per hour for the nature of the work and hours that its members put in.

Local life model Abigail Claydon, 21, said, “I find it liberating but it’s very hard, even the foetal position is uncomfortable when you’ve been in it for 20 minutes on a hard floor.”

Nevertheless, the group has struggled to get universities and the local council on board. They are planning a series of demonstrations in the coming weeks.

Founder, Andy Muse said, “A two hour job, after tax equates to less than a bus fare and a cup of tea, you get the idea!”
