South African festival Afrovibes returns to Cardiff

After its first appearance in 2012, Afrovibes is back, and this year celebrates the 20th anniversary of the first democratic elections in South Africa.

The six-day event running from the 20 October will showcase an array of South African culture through various productions.

Cathy Boyce, the theatre projects co-ordinator at Chapter in Cardiff, said, “We’re so pleased to be hosting Afrovibes at Chapter. I’m excited to share such a strong programme of South African dance, theatre and music with our audiences.”

To commemorate this historic occasion the biennial festival has introduced pop up township cafes to give the community a taste of their local cuisine. They will also be host to late night music, DJs, workshops, poetry readings and much more.
