This weekend marked the launch of the first ever Cardiff Fashion Week and although much is being done to showcase Cardiff style, independent retailers may not be feeling the benefits.<\/h2>\n

A busy St David's Centre - where many of the week's events will be taking place<\/p><\/div>\n

The event, which brings people into Cardiff from across the country, aims to display what director of the event, Clare Birt, calls \u201cCardiff across the board\u201d balancing St David\u2019s retail giants with independent outlets in Cardiff.<\/p>\n

The inclusion of a retail award for \u2018Independent of the year\u2019 was made with this objective in mind.<\/p>\n

However one shop owner, shortlisted for the award itself, still expressed concerns, stating, \u201cI don’t think enough has been done to involve smaller independents.
