Pret a Manger gives away leftover food to the homeless, instead of contributing the growing amount of food waste building up in Cardiff.<\/p>\n

While many restaurants fill their bins at the end of the day, Pret employees hand out their remaining pre-packaged sandwiches to the local homeless.<\/p>\n

Food waste in Cardiff, as well as the rest of the country, is a growing concern, with businesses throwing tonnes away after stocking their shelves with too much to sell.<\/p>\n

Though many resort to selling their waste for energy, or filling up landfills, Pret have taken a more philanthropic approach.<\/p>\n

When asked about the motivations behind their generosity Pret tweeted, \u201cour first shop had rough sleepers in our doorway. We could throw good food away, or give it [to] those that needed it most.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
