Wales has \u201ca long way further still to go\u201d in tackling child poverty, according to a report published by the UK Social Mobility and Child Poverty Commission last week.<\/p>\n

The report <\/a>states that Wales has the joint highest rate of child poverty of any area in the UK, with areas of South Wales and The Valleys among the most deprived.<\/p>\n

It warns that Welsh children from poor backgrounds may be \u201closing out on support,\u201d and calls for more action to be taken on tackling \u201cin-work poverty.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mary Powell-Chandler, Head of Save the Children Wales, said: \u201cThere is no doubt that families are really struggling at the moment.<\/p>\n
