Tara Tarapetian<\/a> is an upcoming fashion designer with the potential to be Wales’ next big fashion export, alongside Julien Macdonald.<\/p>\n

Tara, 22, from Swansea graduated with a BA in Fashion Design from\u00a0The University of South Wales<\/a> and has exhibited garments at the World Retail Awards 2013.<\/p>\n

She believes that style should be used to empower women and creates strong silhouettes to reflect this. However Tara’s designs are not influenced by trends.<\/p>\n

Her spring summer 2014 collection is inspired by literature, in particular J. D. Salinger’s work. Another inspiration is the nomadic lifestyle with an emphasis on their travels.<\/p>\n

Tara said: “I design for strong women who like to travel. I would like to dress Lady Gaga.”<\/p>\n

In the next few years there are plans for the Tara Tarapetian brand to expand with an accessories line. Tara also wants to set up a manufacturer in Wales to make her clothing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
