The CMES Miniture Railway, in the heart of Heath Park<\/p><\/div>\n

Friends of Heath Park Woodlands (FHPW)\u00a0say any proposal to build on Heath Park\u2019s woodland should be objected.<\/p>\n

Up to 100 trees could be cut down for an extension of Cardiff Model Engineering Society\u2019s Miniature Railway, who argue \u201cit will provide an additional, more interesting ride through woodland for our visitors.\u201d<\/p>\n

The park is in constant use by the public and the woodland is habitat to protected species, the Great Crested Newt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Great Crested Newt inhabits the main pond, which is only about 50 metres away from the proposed extension site,\u201d says FHPW Chairman, Steve Bool.<\/p>\n

The woodland is also home to great spotted woodpeckers.<\/p>\n
