The fate of an empty unit on Wellfield Road will be decided on 11 December at a planning committee meeting.<\/p>\n

The unit has been vacant for a year and is proposed to become a fish and chip shop. This has caused a local feud between retailers along the street and the applicant who welcomes the fish shop.<\/p>\n

Andy Ceshion, manager of neighbouring Seven Clothing, said, \u201cWe\u2019ve organised a petition and have collected over 400 signatures against it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Farooq Khalid, the applicant, has also created a petition that has gathered a huge amount of support from the local student population.<\/p>\n

The meeting will vote for or against the fish and chip shop along the retail dominated road, but a similar proposal was rejected nine months ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
