A vendor selling ostrich burgers to Cardiff’s Rugby World Cup spectators this year has revelled in the food’s popularity.<\/p>\n
Keith Roberts, who owns the Try Inn stall on St John\u00a0Street, says although it’s the first time offering ostrich meat, the reception has been surprising.<\/p>\n
“We weren’t sure about the numbers, but it’s gone quite well. We’ve had a lot of good comments from the public,” he explained.<\/p>\n
So how does this strange delicacy taste? Not how you may think. “People think it’s like chicken, but it’s a red meat,” Keith points out. It tastes similar to beef, but is much healthier than the more familiar option due to being naturally lower in fat and cholesterol.<\/p>\n
