Lou Lou’s award winning vintage fair <\/a>hit City Hall this weekend.The entry fee was reasonably priced at just \u00a32 for what is now regarded as the UK’s largest vintage fair. The fair featured\u00a0dozens of\u00a0kiosks of\u00a0artisan jewellery, fascinator hats,\u00a0vintage clothing, cushions, ornaments, porcelain, posters and prints and took place on Sunday 16 October. It lasted from 10am\u00a0until 4pm.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights at this vintage event was a\u00a0fabulous pop up tea room run by Birmingham based Lil’s Parlour<\/a>. Guests were able to enjoy a spot of tea, coffee\u00a0or hot chocolate, served up in old fashioned porcelain china cups with floral motifs.<\/p>\n

Some of\u00a0Lil’s other delights included peanut butter jellycake, gluten free chocolate cake, cookies and cream cheese-cake\u00a0and the Bakewell tart, all sold\u00a0for between \u00a32 and \u00a34.\u00a0Most of the cakes are ‘shaken up’ versions of recipes originating from pre war journals according to Lil’s.<\/p>\n

The fair was\u00a0well attended\u00a0with visitors from all age groups eager to\u00a0browse through racks of\u00a0vintage inspired dresses, jackets, hats\u00a0and shoes.<\/p>\n

David Crawford, 39,\u00a0an online retailer and participant was busy arranging denim jackets and\u00a0said, “Vintage clothing generally is timeless clothing but the sort of stuff that is popular now is more second hand.”<\/p>\n

A pop up parlour\u00a0was another original feature of the event. Visitors could choose to have their hair styled or have a vintage make over for just \u00a320. The beautician on duty at the parlour whilst curling hair for a satisfied looking client\u00a0encouraged\u00a0others to have\u00a0a coiffure as well.<\/p>\n

As the\u00a0event continued to entertain\u00a0guests with popular 50s tunes belted out by the close-harmony duo Gentlemen Prefer Blondes<\/em> , we took to the streets to find out what Cardiff folk really think about vintage clothing.
