sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Suryatapa Mukherjee, the organiser of the fundraiser, hosted the event and also performed several of her own poems.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gwdihw.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gwdihw <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caf\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Bar<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has networked with an Indian <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caf\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as a way to provide an international platform for LGBT+ and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> artists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through a fundraising event held at the live music venue on Sunday 19 November, a range of BAME and LGBT+ artists performed and raised a total of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a3336.59<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebetterindia.com\/84928\/amra-odbhut-kolkata-lgbtq-cafe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amra Odbhuth <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caf\u00e9<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India who are currently struggling financially to remain open. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suryatapa Mukherjee, the organiser of the fundraiser, said: \u201cI am very passionate about causes close to the LGBT+ community, especially in India. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI belong to that community myself and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amra Odbhuth<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is providing a safe space to the LGBT+ community in Kolkata while also promoting LGBT+ artists. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think it is an absolutely necessary space to have.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Suryatapa went onto say that she feels a great deal of support from the Cardiff BAME and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/no-logo\/lgbt-protest-gay-rights-egypt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LGBT+<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> community, as well as from people who are not as associated with such causes but wish to give their support by enjoying the great line-up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nandini Moitra, founder of Amra Odbhuth <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caf\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, said: \u201dAmra Odbhuth <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caf\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> started with a need for more readily accessible queer spaces, a space dedicated to queer artistry.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs for the folks in Cardiff,\u201d Nandini continued, \u201cwe are really overwhelmed with gratitude because so many folks have stepped up to perform and make this event possible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nandini expressed her wish to use the future income of the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caf\u00e9 to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">invite LGBT+ artists and performers from all over the world to perform and hold LGBT+ art exhibitions and events in the <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">caf\u00e9<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe think this event at Cardiff is a good place to figure out how well our purpose speaks to a larger community and if we can look forward to larger self-sustainable LGBT+ networks
