Winter vegan festival aims to help the animals by teaching Cardiff how to eat vegan and giving funds raised to dog charity<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Expect to see street food stalls selling vegan food<\/p><\/div>\n

Vegans can join in with winter festivities this year with a first-time festival at City Hall. <\/span>Welsh Vegan WinterFest<\/span><\/a> is not-for-profit event where the funds raised will go to <\/span>Protect a Pup<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

According t<\/span>o Protect a Pup, 3,463 homeless dogs were killed by local authorities last year. <\/span><\/p>\n

They will use the money raised to provide free neuters, spays, microchipping and advice \u2014 anything to make sure dogs have the best chance at finding a home.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 10:30am to 4pm on Sunday 9 December, you can buy cruelty-free Christmas gifts and plant based street food.<\/span><\/p>\n

There will also be information and advice on how to go vegan for good.<\/span><\/p>\n

Claire Morley organised the event as a way of combining her two areas of animal activism. <\/span><\/p>\n

She runs Vegan Effect and is involved with Protect a Pup as she believes that animals are friends and not food.<\/span><\/p>\n

Claire said: \u201cThe event is jam packed full of everything you need for an ethical Christmas. Everyone is welcome to come and explore the fantastic variety the vegan lifestyle has to offer.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She is keen for more people to embrace the vegan lifestyle, and hopes that this event will encourage Cardiff to do so.<\/span><\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI absolutely love the festive period and as a passionate vegan I\u2019m more than excited for the first of many Welsh Vegan WinterFests to come!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Eat Out Vegan Wales<\/span><\/a> are an organisation who provide a guide to places where vegans can eat out in Wales. They will be having a stall at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tim Vodden from<\/span> Eat Out Vegan Wales said:<\/span> \u201cIt is very encouraging that pop-up vegan events are happening so frequently in the Cardiff area these days. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is helping to encourage people to lead a cruelty free and environmentally friendly lifestyle. Even better if it is helping stray animals as well.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
