Its founding mission was to build a better world. It was opened on 23 November in 1983 by Minnie James of Dowlais who lost her sons in the First World War.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/HBH8kolq1rw\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The WCIA currently occupy the Temple and the organisation was founded in 1973 to get people thinking and talking about global issues. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their November calendar has been full of a <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/no-logo\/wales-for-peace-uncovers-stories-from-the-past\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">variety<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/no-logo\/wales-for-peace-uncovers-stories-from-the-past\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of events<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ranging from film launches to education conferences. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the WCIA, the comedy grand finale will end events on a positive note and ring in the Christmas period with a message of goodwill to the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has invited comedians to share their wisdom, experience and humour on the night. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The comedians will be \u201coffering their pearls of wisdom to the world today and they will demonstrate how good humour can make the world a better place,\u201d the Temple has said.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_46422\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 800px\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-46422\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/copy-culture-3-wedding.jpg\" alt=\"temple of peace\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/copy-culture-3-wedding.jpg 800w, https:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/copy-culture-3-wedding-416x312.jpg 416w, https:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/copy-culture-3-wedding-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.jomec.co.uk\/altcardiff\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/copy-culture-3-wedding-400x300.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Temple is also a place people can hold functions such as weddings, galas and comedy nights<br \/>(Photo credit: Temple for Peace)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are not the only organisation to use comedy as a tool to encourage peaceful communication and positive global connections. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The UN support events like these, such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.un.org\/en\/audio\/2017\/04\/626832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Comedy for Peace<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This event brought together young comedians together from across war-torn South Sudan to lift spirits in the country last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The concept of comedy as a method for addressing and combating political, social, and global issues appears to be effective and will make the conversation on peace much more accessible to the wider public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the local comedians on the bill, Sarah Breese, says: \u201cIt sounds like a lovely event and I\u2019m very much looking forward to it.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sarah will be performing alongside fellow comedians Dan Thomas, Eleri Morgan and Dan Mitchell. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stand Up for Peace will take place on 30 Nov at the Temple of Peace on King Edward VII Avenue, and tickets are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/stand-up-for-peace-sefyll-dros-heddwch-tickets-50392696913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">available online<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Temple of Peace will end its anniversary celebrations by inviting comedians to demonstrate the unifying power of comedy<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":46417,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[12,18],"tags":[2905,228,12342,3091],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v14.9 -
