The people of Cardiff weigh in on scrapping daylight saving time, which will apply to the Uk until it leaves the EU<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The European Commission backed a draft law<\/a> to abolish seasonal time changes in March 2019, which would apply to the UK, including Wales, during a transitional period preceding Brexit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After conducting a survey among citizens, the EU Parliament found out 84%<\/a> of the respondents were in favour to stop the twice-yearly changing of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the moment these changes will apply to the UK, however they can backtrack once Brexit takes place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As reported by the BBC<\/a>, Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, said: “Millions believe that in future, summer time should be year-round, and that’s what will happen.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 28 countries that adopted daylight saving time will have to communicate to the EU whether they wish to permanently use wintertime or summertime by spring 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff receives an average of seven hours of daylight in winter as opposed to 16 hours of daylight in summer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cardiff is the rainiest city<\/a> of the UK which means it is often covered by clouds, leaving little space for sunny days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wondered what the citizens of the wettest city of the UK thought about abolishing daylight saving time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs regards the light mornings in the winter, it think that\u2019s a lot safer for school children. Obviously if they abolished it the mornings would be darker.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
