As the festive period looms, for many, thoughts turn to nails, lashes and tan. How are beauty businesses affected the seasonal rush?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This Christmas, sparkles are on the agenda<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

For Chelsea Beaumont, a 20-year-old beautician from Pontypool, the festive period brings a \u201cmassive\u201d increase in customers wanting beauty services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s absolute madness,\u201d said Chelsea. \u201cSome days, I can start at 8am and not finish until 10pm.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea established Make-Up by Chelsea Beaumont in 2017. In the two years since, her business has grown<\/a> from strength to strength. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The self-taught make-up artist now rents premises in Cwmbran and has expanded the range of services she offers. This is due in part to the increase in business generated by the run-up to Christmas and New Year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea said, \u201cThe festive period honestly helps so much. When I\u2019m working more, I\u2019m able to advertise more. This is obviously brilliant for the business short-term for the reputation I get by working hard, and long-term as customers return throughout the year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the UK, the beauty industry employs<\/a> over a million people. By 2022, it\u2019s expected<\/a> that the health and beauty industry will be worth \u00a326.7bn, a rise of \u00a39.7bn from current figures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christmas only adds to those numbers. Parties with friends and colleagues mean many want to look glamorous for their celebrations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Be mindful,” said Chelsea. “We all need time to rest.”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Chelsea credits letting her hair down as a way to keep sane during this busy time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSometimes, the work can be physically draining,\u201d she said. \u201cRunning your own business is very difficult and I\u2019ve been doing this since I was 18. It\u2019s hard to switch off when you\u2019re worrying if you have replied to messages, or if you’ve booked people in at the wrong times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Chelsea is quick to reiterate her love for her customers, regardless of the festive hustle. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t change anything. I love making people feel good. It\u2019s very rewarding and makes it all worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
