Bute Park is recently extending its hours to 7pm due to park users’ suggestions.
The trial has run from this month to December, according to the park staff. The only two entrances with extended hours are the Millennium Bridge and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Pedestrian entrance.
Rachel Fahey, who benefited from the trial, found it useful especially for those who had children. “I heard the news on the radio, and I think it’s a good idea. They should definitely do it also during summertime.”
Conversely, Hewitson, a Bute regular, was not aware of the trial, described it as ”silly” when he heard it. “It’s dark at half past five, and of course, also cold. I don’t think there can be many people walking up here.” However, he did mention that extended hours during summertime would be useful.
