Planning committee in Cardiff Council put tighter restrictions on student accommodation around Cardiff Centre. The government officials said they made the decision out of the concern for maintaining the initial character of this region.

According to statistics released by Student Housing Market ReviewSummer 2011, both UK full-time students as well as international students “sustained demand for private rented accommodation.” However, on Wednesday meeting, the application of turning offices into student flats located at Windsor Lane was deferred until December, and both applications of 22 Park Place in Cathays Park and 55 Flora Street have been refused.

Planning Committee has released their decision about Cardiff City Planning of 2012 online. However, until the date of news dispatch the government officials have not make any comments.
