These pubs have the past and the character which makes customers come back again and again!

The people of Cardiff have two new reasons to be proud of, with two of its pubs – The Packet Hotel and The Golden Room being ranked among the UK Top 100 Drinking Places (compiled by whisky brand The Famous Grouse)


The Packet Hotel

The Packet Hotel, originally a hotel for the sailors, is one of the oldest pubs in the docks.

One of the regulars, Brian Ahmed, who is 49, from Cardiff itself, says “we have been coming here all our lives!”                      

The Golden Cross

The Golden Cross, here since 1849 is currently a gay pub, also voted as the Best Gay Pub in the UK in 2004.

It has tiles from 1906 on the bar and tiles from the 1800s on the outside to create the perfect traditional pub ambiance.
