Wales v New Zealand: a big test

Wales are looking frail after their defeat by Samoa

Wales’ 19-26 defeat by Samoa marks their fifth consecutive loss. With such poor performance, what hope is there for Saturday’s match against the world-renowned All Blacks?

Samoa has left Wales battered and bruised, 19-26 down with three players injured and doubt over whether they will be fit to play on Saturday. Considering that Wales has only won three of their 25 previous encounters with the New Zealanders, this doesn’t bode well.

Martin Emsle, a former player for Pontypool, blames the coaching by Rob Howley, who’s standing in for Warren Gatland while he recovers from a foot operation.

“We’ve lost our way,” he said. “The boys seem to have lost a lot of confidence and the team doesn’t look like they believe in themselves anymore.”
