Hundreds of thousands of people in the UK have serious gambling problems, and additional more than 2 million people are problem gamblers or at risk of addiction, according to a report.
The Gambling Commission’s report estimates that the number of gamblers in the UK over the age of 16 has increased by a third in three years. The committee also found that 450,000 people gamble regularly, more than people who drugs, drink alcohol or smoke.

“Yes, absolutely. It’s a big problem. I used to work in a very big famous restaurant. People need to book a month in advance. But about 50% of people will cancel it because they gambled their money away.
“But I don’t think it should be banned. I think it should be controlled. I don’t think everything probably should be banned. We are human beings. Some addictions can be controlled, the same as alcohol and drugs.”

“I think some people do. There are majority of people who do have problem of gambling, but I feel like it is not the biggest problem in UK. I think we have bigger problems like homeless people. That is more serious issue.”

“It is part of society in the UK, It just another way they enjoy their weekends and their pastime really.
“I don’t think so, I think if people want to spend their money, they earn their money, they have right to spend their whole wages at all.
“There is a lot of gambling advertisement everywhere online and TV. But I think the government are trying to stop it now. “

“I see a lot of people outside betting in the shop of the town. The gambling advertisement is less than it was. I feel there is so quite a lot few years ago, but I think they would stop.

“My sister was spoiled it. I think advertising on internet encourages them. Sometimes she wins a lot bit. But most of time you will get lot of money problem.
“I think you need to control the age to allow them coming in. I think the age restrict should be older, 18 is too young. Possibly, if you are 25, you are more mature. “
