The audiences now are expected to understand and obey the rules better about the snooker, since the BetVictor Welsh Open 2016 runs this week in Cardiff.

This world ranking professional snooker tournament will take place at the Motorpoint Arena from the 15th to the 21st of February. 128 international players are here to compete for this professional title. Apart from the performance of the players, the behavior of the audiences will also have an influence on the match.

Chao Jiang, an international student from Cardiff University, has booked the tickets in advance and has high expectations from the match.

He says, “This is the first time I will watch a snooker match on the scene. Seeing so many top players at once is quite attractive to me. And also, this is a good opportunity for me to enjoy the glamour of the famous gentlemanly culture of the UK. I know it will be totally different from the experience when I watched it on the TV at home.”

The winner will get £60,000 cash prize this year. The top players include the defending champion John Higgins, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Shawn Muphy, and players from other countries like China, Australia, and Belgium amongst others.

When Chao Jiang went through the security check, the staff advised him not to take camera or food into the match area. He was also required to turn his phone to silent mode. Taking pictures on the phone was permitted only if the flash wasn’t used.

These rules are all aimed to keep the audience silent. The players can’t be disturbed during the match, because snooker is considered a civilized sport meant for gentlemen.

The time for applauding also has a strict requirement. The audiences shouldn’t clap their hands whenever the player’s score. So, before watching a snooker match, it is recommended to know the rules so as to avoid any embarrassment.

Chao Jiang also managed to get some autographs from the star players, and he says, “You can ask the players for their signatures for a souvenir after they finish the match. Most of them are so nice and respond to you. But most importantly, you should never make noise and influence the players on other tables. ”
