An annual Book of Remembrance has opened in Cardiff at the St David’s Shopping Centre in The Hayes, providing the public with an opportunity to celebrate and remember loved ones.

The ‘Light Up a Life’ appeal by George Thomas Hospice Care, provides the opportunity to place messages for loved ones in this unique book along with the donations made. The donations are used to support the charity’s work, caring for those diagnosed with terminal cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

The Hospice which was established 31 years ago in 1984 has held its ‘Light Up a Life’ appeal from the early 1990’s. “And over these 20 years, the book has collected some very tender and moving sentiments and some wonderful tributes by family members and friends.” says Mike Walsh, the Chief Executive.

The Appeal which runs from 6 November to 31 December has a target to raise £50,000 this year.  Mr. Walsh proudly claims that “We are well on track at the moment, from both donations and the fundraising events that we hold during the period of the Appeal.”
