More than 800 people joined the rally to Cardiff Bay on Saturday 28 November to call for a fair deal on climate action.

The event, Pedal for the planet in Cardiff is organised by Stop Climate Chaos Cymru, including member organizations like Oxfam Cymru, Sustrans Cymru and other 14 separate ones.

“We want to see world leaders agree to a legally binding deal that will enable us all to combat  climate change effectively and boost the transition towards resilient, low-carbon societies and economies at COP21 (Conference of the Parties 21).” Says Casia Williams, media and communications officer of the Oxfam Cymru.

The event consists of a mass cycle ride down Bute Street to Senedd from 1.30 pm and a rally on the Senedd Steps afterwards from 2 pm. During the rally, several speakers including politicians and charity workers address speeches.

In line with the upcoming UN climate talks helding in Paris from 30 November to 12 December, Pedal for the planet is part of mass demonstrations that are taking place across the UK and the world this weekend.

“As individual, we can each take small simple steps that collectively will make a big difference. Like jump on a bike or get on a train rather than using the car.” Casia adds.
