Philippe said: “I’m looking forward to showing that the trumpet is a versatile musical instrument, not just a loud fanfare like instrument at the back of a band.”

Schartz has developed a highly successful career as an orchestral and chamber musician as well as a soloist.

Head of Brass at RWCMD, Kevin Price, commented: “Philippe Schartz is one of the finest orchestral principal trumpet players in the UK. His work with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales profiles him both as a soloist and as a formidable orchestral player.”
