Cardiff hosts digital DJ masterclass

Catapult Records showcase the latest in digital mixing technology

If you thought the switch to digital was just something that effected pensioners with prehistoric television sets, then think again.

Next month sees Cardiff’s Catapult Records host the first in a series of musical masterclasses from the market leaders in digital mixing.

On November 24, the first of 4 demonstrations from digital pioneers Serato will take place in Catapult’s new store.

The class will showcase Serato’s Scratch Live software, which looks set to replace vinyl records, enabling DJs to mix and scratch using MP3s.

These events will offer people the chance to see the technology in action and speak to experts, says store owner Lucy Squire.

“The brands come down to showcase their latest products,” said Lucy. “I think we’re quite unique. I don’t think many record shops offer this.”
