Ryder Cup glory boosts awareness

The Ryder Cup 2012 was one of the most exciting in its history and has benefited the golfing image in Wales.

It has led to an increased participation of 16-25 year olds in golf across South Wales. As Paul Harris of Newport Golf Club states, ‘Although bookings for youngsters have been slowly increasing, the events of the Ryder Cup have definitely increased awareness of the sport’. A host of clubs have advertised promotional golfing lessons at discounted prices, for those who were perhaps not too familiar with the sport before the Ryder Cup, to get involved and enjoy a comfort break alongside. Clubs include Pontypool and Ridgeway who are holding huge promotional offers for those that want to try their hand on the golf course.
