Hijinx Theatre presents new show

Hijinx’s community theatre group Odyssey is set to perform in The Silent Toy Solider in the Wales Millennium Stadium on 3 to 5 December.

The show is an adaptation of ETA Hoffmann’s The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

The cast consists of disabled and non-disabled performers, as Hijinx aim to provide a platform for talented actors who may get overlooked because of their learning disabilities.

Professional actors Kirsty Rosser, 38, and Martin Vick, 40, have been involved with the theatre group for over 10 years as Martin said, “I joined in 2001 and I played Peter Pan in my first show.”

Productions such as this are made possible by funding from the Arts Council of Wales.

Odyssey members have also raised money for productions, as Kirsty revealed that she fundraised by baking and selling cakes.
