Oxjam Cardiff smashes 2010 total

Despite the financial gloom, music fans in Cardiff are still prepared to donate money to charity – if the fundraising gig is worth it

Venues across Cardiff supported the Oxjam Cardiff Takeover this year

The Oxjam Cardiff Takeover raised over £4000 for Oxfam this October, beating last year’s total by at least £1200.

Becci Scotcher-Jones, Media and Marketing Coordinator for Oxjam Cardiff, believes that the lively music community in Cardiff has ensured the charity festival’s success here.

She said: “Oxjam has grown massively in Cardiff over the past few years, thanks to the support of local venues, businesses and of course all of the amazing musicians who get involved and play for free.”

The event is part of the month-long Oxjam Festival, which this year features more than 9000 musicians and bands across the UK.
