War of the Worlds in Cardiff

The holographic form of Richard Burton has been replaced by Liam Neeson in the new musical version of War of the Worlds after 34 years.

The original musical, which has been running for over 30 years, used the voice of Richard Burton as the narrator and in 2006 added an 11ft hologram of his head to support the narration.

The new version, which started in 2012, is called the War of the Worlds: The New Generation. It features Liam Neeson taking over from Richard Burton because of an extension of the narrator’s character. The musical’s PR office said, “Richard’s replacement needed to be someone with an equal quality of voice.” The musical is coming to the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on Sunday 9 December.
