A festive brunch with Santa will get you and your family in the mood for Christmas, and you can support a local charity at the same time.

If you come along to Cottrell Park on 7 December, you will be part of City Hospice’s Light up a Life appeal, which helps support people in the Cardiff community when they need care the most.

The event welcomes people of all ages, but if you bring your little ones along, they can attend Santa’s grotto after the meal and will even receive a free gift.

The Christmas brunch includes a hot traditional Welsh breakfast. Or you can opt for a sweet option of pain au chocolat, muffins or pancakes.

Daisy Magill, fundraising and events coordinator, said: “In addition to this we will have a variety of our City Hospice Christmas stalls for people to purchase those last minute gifts for their loved ones.”

She added: “The event is aimed at groups of friends, families and anyone in the community to come and get in the festive spirit while supporting Cardiff’s local hospice.”

Cardiff Male Choir will also be performing for some live entertainment and there will be plenty of stalls to do some Christmas shopping.

The day is run by City Hospice who, according to the BBC, received a record number of 742 new patients in 2017, which was a 10% increase from 2016. They also reported that the number could reach 1,200 to 1,400 annually, so the charity is rapidly expanding.

They must raise £1.5m each year from events like these, alongside donations, to keep sending nurses to those in need and ensure the best quality of care.

The brunch costs £12.95 per child and tickets can be bought online, while adults can purchase their tickets on the day for £8.
