Vile kitchens uncovered

A recent health inspection on Cowbridge Road East has seen 14 eateries being classed as below standard.

The impromptu visit from the Food Standards Agency scored restaurants and takeaways on a scale of 0-5. The 14 restaurants in question scored between 0 and 2, meaning they need attention and improvement.

Ian Lloyd-Davies, of Cardiff Council, said, “The ratings are given on the inspection and each restaurant needs to ensure that they are following the procedures set out by the Food Standards Agency.”

Speaking of the unhygienic conditions that some of the restaurants were found in, he continued, “Defrosting meat in a bucket on the kitchen floor is not satisfactory.”

Each takeaway has been given guidelines on how to increase their rating to a satisfactory level.
