Welsh Beatbox Championships

The first Welsh Beatboxing Championships are taking place 17 January at The Full Moon club, with submissions open until 15 December.

The championship, which was inspired by the success of its Irish counterpart, is looking to provide a platform for Welsh beatbox talent. The daytime event will be followed by an afterparty showcasing some of the UK’s best beatboxers, including 2014 Irish Champion Scorch and Cardiff’s own Beatbox ‘Mr Fresh’ Fozzy.

“It’s mainly a grassroots kind of thing where everyone in the local scene can get involved,” says Steve Dancey, who founded the event with a business partner and Matthew ‘Beatbox’ Hann, “There didn’t seem to be anything in Cardiff to support local Beatboxers and give them the confidence to go on to the UK scene.”
