Irie Shack expands to Cardiff Bay

Cathays based Caribbean restaurant Irie Shack is opening a second restaurant in Cardiff Bay this December.

It won’t be the only new Caribbean restaurant however as UK chain Turtle Bay will be opening up its first restaurant on St Mary Street on December 11.

Irie Shack has been tantalising the taste buds of residents since 2013 and has proved very popular with locals. But with a large chain restaurant with more cash behind it landing smack bang in the middle of Cardiff, is Irie Shack concerned?

General manager Gemma Roberts says, “We’re confident that our style and personality will keep people coming to us, it’s because we’re smaller that people feel they can get to know us and I think they really appreciate that. Plus our food is amazing, so that helps!”
