Award-winning pizzeria Dusty Knuckle are branching out with a ‘Dark Side’

Dusty Knuckle have been making waves across Cardiff ever since they burst onto the scene in 2016, especially after moving into a shipping container site on Papermill Road in Canton just this past month.

Having been voted ‘People’s Favourite’ sustainable restaurant by the Food Made Good Awards back in 2018, Dusty Knuckle are clearly a hit amongst foodies in both Canton and beyond.

The independent pizza spot made a name for itself through its “commitment to sustainability and support for the principles of Slow Food,” says Phill Lewis, founder of Dusty Knuckle. Now, Phill wants to show people that they can be versatile – through offering a glimpse into Dusty Knuckle’s ‘dark’ side.

DARK, according to Phill, will possess all of Dusty Knuckle’s values surrounding sustainability and the use of local produce, and will continue to carry on the “campaign for good, clean, fair food”.

While the ethos will remain the same, there will be a fair few changes at DARK, Phill claims.

“The dishes and the flavours will offer something very different. Whilst there will be the opportunity to get your hands on a couple of pizzas from a more varied menu, people can expect even more creative and bolder choices than our normal offering.”

When it comes to what customers will find at DARK, Phill says that they should expect “loud music, fire and strong flavours”.

Just last Saturday, Dusty Knuckle hosted a successful launch party ahead of both the opening of their new residence on Papermill Road and the impending establishment of DARK.

Here, a taste of what DK are offering next could be found. Alongside providing the usual pizza menu, Phill also lit a fire bowl to cook Steak Frites and Gravy, as well as Ox heart buns, which went down a storm with big crowds.

Dusty Knuckle will be providing more information and updates about their dark side over on their new Twitter account for DARK. Here, you can stay in the loop about the launch of what is sure to be another hit venture for Phill and the crew.
