Busking no matter what the season

A local harpist reveals she plans to carry on busking in the city centre throughout the winter months.

So far busking has scored musician Sam Hickman a job playing the harp at Hilton Cardiff Hotel, as well as several weddings. “I’d like to continue to see it grow for me this season”, she says.

Achieving calm as a performer is something she’d also like to work on, as it’s tempting to hurry against a backdrop of rushing people.

It’s important to continue savouring every busking session as a performance, she shares, as it really shows if you’re not into it.

Finally, Hickman admits it would be great not to overspend on harps, as ‘harp-envy’ always keeps her on the lookout for the next-best harp.
